OpenClaw
Install and configure the Lore plugin for OpenClaw.
The OpenClaw integration installs the Lore plugin for OpenClaw. OpenClaw adds startup memory to the system context on the first prompt of each session, adds recall to each prompt, and gets the Lore memory tools.
Install
Run this on the machine where you use OpenClaw:
npx @loremem/cli install --channels openclawOn Loremem Cloud, pass the server and your project token:
npx @loremem/cli install --base-url https://api.loremem.com --api-token lm_your_token --channels openclawThe installer skips OpenClaw when the openclaw command is not on your PATH. It also needs npm and access to the npm registry, because it installs and builds the plugin. Restart OpenClaw after the install finishes.
What gets installed
- The plugin files from
lore-openclaw.zip, in~/.lore/openclaw/. The installer runsnpm installandnpm run buildthere. - The built plugin, installed with
openclaw plugins install . --force --dangerously-force-unsafe-installand enabled withopenclaw plugins enable lore. The installer passes these flags itself. - An entry under
plugins.entries.lorein~/.openclaw/openclaw.json. The installer setsenabledtotrueif it isn't set, and it writesbaseUrlandskillsEnabledintoconfig. It also writesapiTokenwhen you set a token. - Nine memory tools:
lore_status,lore_boot,lore_get_node,lore_search,lore_list_domains,lore_create_node,lore_update_node,lore_delete_node, andlore_move_node. On a server with Skills, sevenlore_skill_*tools are added. - Hooks. At session start, Lore prepares the startup context, and the plugin adds it to the system context on the first prompt of the session. Each prompt gets recall. When the gateway starts, the plugin runs a health check.
Plugin settings
These settings go under plugins.entries.lore.config:
{
"plugins": {
"entries": {
"lore": {
"enabled": true,
"config": {
"baseUrl": "https://api.loremem.com",
"apiToken": "lm_your_token",
"skillsEnabled": true
}
}
}
}
}| Field | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
baseUrl | base_url in ~/.lore/config.json, then LORE_BASE_URL, then http://127.0.0.1:18901 | Server URL. The installer writes it. |
apiToken | api_token in ~/.lore/config.json, then LORE_API_TOKEN | Server token. The installer writes it when you set one. |
timeoutMs | 30000 | Request timeout in milliseconds, from 1000 to 120000. |
defaultDomain | core | Domain for memory tools when a call gives none. |
loreHome | LORE_HOME, then ~/.lore | Folder for skill work copies. |
skillsEnabled | false | Turns on the Skill tools. The installer sets it from the server's capabilities. |
injectPromptGuidance | true | Set to false to skip the startup context at session start. |
startupHealthcheck | true | Set to false to skip the health check when the gateway starts. |
recallEnabled | true | Set to false to turn off recall for prompts. |
Verify
- Run
npx @loremem/cli status. Theopenclawline should readinstalled. - Open
~/.openclaw/openclaw.jsonand check thatplugins.entries.lorehas"enabled": true. - Restart OpenClaw. With the health check on, the gateway log shows
lore: startup health check ok (<server URL>). - Start a new session and ask OpenClaw to call
lore_status. It should return the server's health. - Send a prompt about a project that has memories. The prompt should receive recall.
Notes
- Installer values come first. The plugin reads
baseUrlandapiTokenfrom its own settings before it reads~/.lore/config.json. The installer writes both values into the plugin entry, so later edits to~/.lore/config.jsondon't reach OpenClaw. After you change the server or the token, run the install again with the new values, or editplugins.entries.lore.config. - Restart after edits. Restart OpenClaw after you change the plugin entry.
Manual setup (fallback)
Use these steps only when the installer can't run. They run the same commands as the installer.
mkdir -p ~/.lore/openclaw
curl -fsSL -o lore-openclaw.zip https://github.com/FFatTiger/lore/releases/latest/download/lore-openclaw.zip
unzip -qo lore-openclaw.zip -d ~/.lore/openclaw
rm lore-openclaw.zip
cd ~/.lore/openclaw
npm install --silent
npm run build
openclaw plugins install . --force --dangerously-force-unsafe-install
openclaw plugins enable loreThen add the plugins.entries.lore block shown above to ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json, and restart OpenClaw.
Uninstall
npx @loremem/cli uninstall --channels openclaw -yIf openclaw is on your PATH, this disables and uninstalls the plugin. It also removes plugins.entries.lore from ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json and deletes ~/.lore/openclaw. Restart OpenClaw afterwards.
If OpenClaw doesn't load Lore, see Agent connection issues.
